New Scholarships Created

The loss of young lives is never an easy experience.  In recent months, it seems as though our community has had more than our share.  The Community Foundation of Washington County commends the brave families and friends of the lost in their attempts to provide some positive impact in their grief  We are honored to be the conduit for two new scholarship funds created in memory of young men whose lives were cut short.

The Quinn Alec Hoover Legacy Scholarship Fund will provide financial support in the form of scholarships to graduating seniors at Washington County Technical High School and Clear Spring High School who can articulate how they will use their lives to make a difference, something Quinn was able to accomplish in just 17 short years.

The Mitchell Akers Leopard Spirit Memorial Scholarship will keep Mitchell's love of life and of Smithsburg High School alive through financial support of a graduating senior who demonstrates school involvement and Leopard Spirit.

Our deepest condolences to these families and friends, and our utmost thanks to them for "Looking Forward and Giving Back."
