FANS Funds
FANS fund supports emergency assistance for individuals and families in Washington County, MD, as well as nonprofit organizations who are addressing emerging urgent needs within the community. The severity and urgency of the requested need and the impact that it will have on the recipient will be the determining consideration in providing support.
Organizations interested in applying for FANS Fund need to submit a request using the Request Form, which can be obtained by emailing cfwc@cfwcmd.org. The form must be emailed to CFWC by the requesting agency or the sponsoring organization (for individuals or families) at cfwc@cfwcmd.org. All requests must provide detailed information, along with the total amount needed to fulfill the request. The maximum award amount is $1,000.

The organizations must be located in and provide services for residents of Washington County, MD
Families and individuals must reside in Washington County, MD
We disburse FANS funds to a responsible nonprofit organization to help them close the gap and, hopefully, resolve the situation.

FANS Highlight:
Holly Place provides a safe and affordable home for 15 low-income seniors. They offer personal care, housekeeping, laundry, medication administration and transportation to appointments at a minimal cost. Recently, one of Holly Place’s two vehicles, a 23-year old, seven passenger van broke down beyond repair. This vehicle provided much needed transportation for the residents. The cost to replace the van with a wheelchair lift was $25,000. On behalf of many generous donors, Holly Place was able to purchase a “new” van for transporting residents to their doctor’s appointments once again. It has rear wheel-chair access and can transport four other people plus the driver.
It’s thanks to our gracious donors that we are able to provide for the hundreds of causes and scholarships each year. Local community foundations like ours allow us to preserve a bright future for our friends, families, and neighbors for generations to come.
