Maryland Nonprofits Nonprofit Development Center: resources for starting and operating a nonprofit in Maryland.

MD Annotated Code for Corporations & Associations : database of state laws concerning the creation and operation of corporations including nonprofits.

Secretary of State (Maryland) : the Charitable Solicitation Act website which controls annual filing and disclosures of nonprofit charitable solicitations.

Department of Assessment and Taxation (Maryland) : the state department that collects annual fillings of personal property return from nonprofits. If you are not in good standing with this agency, your organization would not be eligible for many grant opportunities. 

IRS Small to Mid-Size Tax Exempt Organization Workshop : information and trainings related to maintaining tax exempt status.

The funds invested with the Community Foundation are distributed to the community through grant-making efforts. For any questions, please contact us. We’re here to help! To apply for funding:

  1. Review our Grants and Funds for relevant opportunities for your nonprofit

  2. Check the Funding Opportunities Calendar for your ideal grant’s application period. Many grants have their own unique deadline, so make sure you know your grant’s application dates.

  3. Complete a grant application for your fund here on our website once the granting period has opened.

Washington County Office of Grant Managementprovides information on local government grant funding opportunities.

Governor’s Grants Office : listing of available State and Foundation funding opportunities, and other resources related to grants and grant compliance.

Grants.gov : A federally funded comprehensive website for grantseekers that offers information, federal grant listings and training tutorials related to federal grants and compliance.  

GrantWatch: an extensive grant seeker database for grants supporting nonprofits.  There is a fee for full database access.
