Andrew Bryan Farnen Fund for Gifted and Talented Youth Presents First Official Award
Recently, at a Festival Concert at Westminster High School, the Farnen family presented Grace Lowe with the first official award for the Andrew Bryan Farnen Fund for Gifted and Talented Youth, a component fund of the Community Foundation. Andrew’s family created this fund in memory of him and his love of both the arts and sciences, particularly mathematics. They believe this grant helps foster the imaginations of young people who likewise have a passion for knowledge, artistic expression, mathematics or computer science/technology. It is intended for students between the ages of 14 and 21 residing in Washington, Frederick, Carroll, Howard or Baltimore Counties to assist with the purchase of musical instruments, art supplies, computers, books and other educational materials.Grace Lowe currently attends Westminster High School as a junior. In addition to her AP classes, she is in marching band, the Thespian society and chorus. Miss Lowe also plays the flute, cello and ukulele and has participated in 20 different musicals and plays. She will use her award towards her attendance at a prestigious summer music program in Boston. One day she hopes to compose music for film and screen.
