Barbara Ingram School for the Arts senior Colia Fletcher has been selected as the recipient of a scholarship from the 2021 Bill Dorsey Scholarship Fund for the Barbara Ingram School.Colia describes her passion for dance as coming from the heart, making her "feel alive in so many ways." She plans to apply these funds towards dance equipment - anything from new dance shoes to practice gear. She credits dance as enhancing her education, strengthening not just her body but also her memory and helping her retain information for her studies in the same way she must retain rapidly-changing dance instruction to prepare for classes and performances."I chose to apply [to] and attend Barbara Ingram School for the Arts because this school is one of a kind. I have a passion for dance and Barbara Ingram is the only school I know of that would help me advance and work with peers who have the same passion, not only for dance, but for the arts as well."The Bill Dorsey Scholarship Fund for the Barbara Ingram School was established by 2008 People's Choice Awards winner Reverend Janice Dorsey, and named for her late husband, Bill. It's a fund that supports scholarships for students at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts (BISFA) and is is designed for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors to offset the cost of materials, supplies and other elements directly related to their arts discipline.Colia hopes to continue her studies and passion for dance as she pursues a degree from Towson University, after graduating high school.
