Endowment Fund Created by Consistory of the Church of the Holy Trinity

It was a significant day at the Community Foundation of Washington County Maryland, Incorporated, as representatives of the Consistory of the Church of the Holy Trinity, United Church of Christ (UCC) met with Community Foundation President & CEO Stacey Crawford to formally create an endowment fund, signifying the official dissolution of the church.

A $400,000 check was presented to the Foundation to create The Church of the Holy Trinity United Church of Christ Endowment Fund, which will provide financial support with 25% equally going towards four identified areas of interest including programs providing direct service to those in need of safe shelter or mental health services, food insecurity, housing assistance to homeless persons and families, and school/community liaison efforts of Lincolnshire Elementary School or any succeeding school in the Halfway, MD community.

“This enables the Church of the Holy Trinity UCC to leave a legacy following the dissolution of our church – which reflects the decades-long outreach and mission activities of the present and prior congregations,” said Consistory President Barbara J. Ware.

“I know it’s a sad day when the church closes, but I hope you know that you can trust us with this fund which will carry on the legacy of what you’ve all done for so long,” said Crawford to those in attendance.

Donations to The Church of the Holy Trinity United Church of Christ Endowment Fund can be made by visiting cfwcmd.org and clicking “DONATE NOW” at the top of the homepage. Checks may also be made out to “Community Foundation of Washington County” with the fund’s name written in the memo space and mailed to – Community Foundation of Washington County, 37 S.
