Karim Thomas Ziyad Memorial Engineering Scholarship Fund

The Community Foundation of Washington County MD recently awarded the Karim Thomas Ziyad Memorial Engineering Scholarship to its inaugural recipient, Giovanna Papa, at the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts. This fund provides scholarships to deserving students from Washington County or the surrounding area who plan to pursue a career in engineering, with a preference given to the field of mechanical engineering.

Ranked number one in her class, Giovanna Papa participates in the National Honor Society, Student Government, American Legion Auxiliary and All County Band. She played flute in pit orchestra for two school productions as well as the Taste of the Arts performances. Miss Papa plans to major in mechanical engineering at a four-year college.
