Hagerstown Sunrise Rotary Club Presents Three Scholarships
The Rotary Club of Hagerstown Sunrise Foundation awarded $2,400 in scholarships this year to Jenna Doak, Claire Knepper and Konrad Mongan. The Sunrise Rotary Club created these scholarships at the Community Foundation of Washington County MD for students pursuing a two or four-year degree or certificate program from an accredited educational institution. All students, including those individuals who have pursued a non-traditional education path, must demonstrate a strong commitment to community service, leadership and extracurricular activities.Jenna Doak attends Boonsboro High School where she plays lacrosse and runs cross country and indoor track & field. She is also a member of Class Cabinet, Student Government Association, National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. Jenna will attend a four-year university and major in nursing with plans to become a nurse practitioner.Claire Knepper goes to North Hagerstown High School and participates in Best Buddies and the Yearbook Club. She played volleyball at North all four years as well as travel volleyball for the Washington County Juniors Volleyball Club for six years. Claire plans to go to Shippensburg University for early childhood education.Konrad Mongan attends Washington County Technical High School where he serves as the Cadet Leader for the school’s Fire and Rescue Academy. He is an assistant coach for Valley Little League Baseball and has been an active volunteer firefighter since 2015 with the Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Company. Konrad plans to attend Hagerstown Community College to earn a degree in criminal justice and become a state fire marshal.
